I’ve always escaped into fiction! As a child, curling up with a good book was my go to, as was jotting down story ideas. Aged eight, I began scribbling away and wrote my first novel: Jane of Lilac Grove. Think carbon copy of ‘Anne of Green Gables’ but set in the town where I grew up!
My fiction writing dwindled, until a few years ago when I turned 40 and set myself two challenges: Get my nose pierced; and finish my manuscript~ needless to say, one was much easier than the other!
I have found a great joy in studying the craft of fiction writing. I love being able to create different worlds where my voice can weave together with my ideals, and I get to spend my days with characters I come to intimately know ~ all important flaws and all!
I’m inspired by strong women writers, such as Jessie Burton, Maggie O’Farrell and Maria Semple. Authors who write honestly and exploratively about what it is to be a woman during different stages of life.
I’m the creator of an internationally award-winning fertility blog, and my freelance articles have been published and translated in numerous online and print publications around the globe. It was through my blog that the spark of an idea for my debut novel was first set alight. And I haven’t looked back!
When I’m not writing, I can be found stomping across the Sussex countryside with my family, and heading down to the beach for a good dose of sea air. If you can’t find me, then I’m curled up somewhere with a good book and a nice cup of tea!
